What is counselling?

There are many different forms of counselling.

Our common aim is to enable a person who feels in a state of stress, distress, unease or unhappiness to find ways to express this and find ways for leading more confident and creative lives, within their families and the work and social groups to which they belong.

How does it work?

Counsellors seek to provide a safe, professional, confidential environment where you are able to explore difficult matters, emotions and feelings, ideas and thoughts about yourself and your relationships. The counsellor listens, offers support and assists you in various ways to face your difficulties, come to a new understanding of yourself and your past and present relationships.

Counselling does not claim to be the answer to all human difficulties, yet the process offers the opportunity to move towards living more effectively and resourcefully.
